The Author’s Guild’s 2018 (Jun. 7-Aug. 21) Authors Income Survey of 5067, published authors found that the median income for all those surveyed (whether part-time or full-time writers) declined to $6,080 in 2017; down 3% from four years ago. Author median income in the US in 2009 was $10,500.

Median income for full-time authors was $20,300, up 3% from median income in 2013, but still lower than the 25K median income of full time authors in 2009.
